The Sun Shone Down on the RSM Open Day!

Our fifth Open Day was a fantastic success, with over two hundred attendees showing up to enjoy a day full of demonstrations & presentations; new product launches; networking; plenty of food & drink; and our after party hosted by Judge Jules.

It had been a long 4 years since we were last able to host such an event due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and we were delighted to open our doors once more. Since our last Open Day, we have relocated, introduced a multitude of new products, and built a fantastic team of individuals that create the RSM family.

RSM was founded in 2003 by our Managing Director Richard Davis, and in 2006 we moved to our first 200 square foot unit employing just 2 people. Seventeen years later, the business is now a multinational organisation employing 55 staff at our 45,000 sq. ft Head Office in Doncaster.

In July 2022, we made the move to our new facility which increased our warehouse and office space from 12,000 square feet to 45,000. Our new facility has allowed us to increase our stock holding significantly as our product catalogue continues to expand with new, innovative materials and equipment. We have also been able to enhance our impregnation capability with the introduction of a second impregnation table to ensure we can continue to keep up with customer demand.

The move allowed us to expand our specialist service and repair centre and upon our relocation we made the decision to incorporate a bespoke training facility. Three years ago, we introduced the first EU Skills and WRc approved lining and training course that has ever been offered. This has been a huge success with over 500 engineers passing the course since it began.

Since the last Open Day, our fastest growing product range has been our Pressure Pipe liner, Fero Force. This is the only structural, reactive pressure pipe solution available. Our offer of design, impregnation, delivery, and technical assistance on site has been instrumental in its growth and it has now been adopted by multiple water authorities as the choice of material for pressure pipe repairs. Fero Force is also the fastest solution available in the market for pressure pipe repair.

With the launch of some fantastic new additions to our extensive product range, those that attended the Open Day were lucky enough to see a variety of demonstrations of our new and existing product range, such as a demonstration of the Fero Force liner! During the Fero Force installation, we introduced some of our newest technology with the VeriCure System. This is a cure monitoring system with optical fibres monitoring temperatures at all points of the liner. It verifies the cure and installation of the liner, allowing the installer to achieve a full cure in less time. Ultimately, it reduces labour, equipment, and fuel costs.

What’s New?

We also premiered our brand-new camera system, the RSM Gecko Cam. This is the first ever camera system we have offered which we believe perfectly complements our current product range. It is a push rod system with a self-levelling camera, available with 40, 60, 80, and 120 metres of cable.

Additionally, we recently expanded one of our most popular product lines to encompass two new variations. RSM Echo Liner was first introduced to the CIPP industry back in 2020 and fast became a well-known brand within the market. It offers a flexible lining solution for sewer rehabilitation and has the capability to go round bends of up to 90 degrees. Echo liner is seam-free to guarantee optimum flexibility and compatible with all curing methods.

The new Echo Glass has a circular knit construction reinforced with fibreglass. The addition of glass offers a higher strength characteristic than with traditional Echo Liner, providing an increased level of support for the installation. Echo Diameter Change has a similar construction but includes elastomeric yarns to increase the elasticity of the liner. This means it has the capability to undertake two diameter changes, making it the perfect solution when re-lining host pipes demonstrating multiple different internal diameters. All Echo Liner variants have the capability to go round bends of up to 90 degrees and are compatible with Epoxy, Silicate, and UV LED Vinylester resins.

Another key talking point throughout the Open Day centred around our brand-new app. An industry first, we bring multiple aspects of the CIPP industry under one roof in a simple, easy to use app which houses helpful tools and information for users to utilise both in the office and on site.

The new & improved app boasts multiple features, inclusive of an online shop, marketplace, recruitment area, resin & cure time calculators, and advertising space. The app’s easy-to-navigate online shop contains a variety of RSM’s core range of CIPP materials & equipment, available for purchase for next day delivery. It also contains a ‘learn’ section with informative videos and documentation for each product, such as technical and safety data sheets.

The marketplace is a quality-controlled space in which users can advertise & purchase used CIPP equipment or unrequired materials. This is a completely free of charge feature and is a great way for you to reduce company wastage.

The app also has the facility for employers to create and post job advertisements to be seen by potential candidates within the CIPP market. This is a fantastic feature that guarantees your job advertisement will be seen by the right people. Users looking for employment can find industry-specific jobs and obtain all required details to apply directly through the app. Our previous app’s main function was our resin & cure time calculators which have been upgraded to make your life easier on-site. It encompasses a variety of technical details, inclusive of resin consumption calculators, cure time calculators & liner technical details. The app is completely free to use and is available for download for both Apple & Android users now – simply search for ‘RSM’ in your app store today.

In the afternoon, Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, visited the Open Day for a factory tour to officially open RSM’s new premises. She commented, “We truly value the business community’s passion and energy in creating business growth and jobs for the borough”. The Open Day was finished off in style with a live performance from Judge Jules which was very much enjoyed by all.

HOW DID attendees FIND THE EVENT?

Our Managing Director, Richard Davis, commented “The Open Day was a massive success, the success of the Open Day is a testament to the incredible teamwork, innovation, and commitment that all employees bring to RSM. It is a reflection of our collective achievements, and I could not be prouder of how far we have come together. Of course, we would not be able to do what we do without the support of our customers & I would like to personally thank them for their commitment, support, and loyalty over the years. I hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day”.
